In Mali our the musical and artistic traditions are largely street culture driven and at this time are pitted against Muslim extremism for their very survival. We often justify inaction by calling the culture of a place a tradition and saying it is evolution if it is stamped out. Creation and the creators creative spark is in us all and no Mullah, or other clergy can ever be so great as to judge the worth of it.
